The design of this dSLR, like most of the semi-professional cameras, consists of rubberized magnesium weather-sealed body, with a good hand grip, plenty of space for an accurate viewfinder and a pop-up powerful flash and lots of buttons at the back. The colors, contrast and sharpness taken by Nikon D200 are great if you have some more advanced photography knowledge to manually adjust white balance, exposure, aperture and shutter speed. Like all cameras in this range, people pictures will result with no red eye due to the pop-up flash. Battery life is only a few hundred shots on a charge (Nikon claims 1,800 shots – probably without the LCD).
The fast speed of the camera and the 10 MP are the main reasons why a photographer would choose to buy the D200 instead of an older Nikon dSLR. Compared to the 6 MP D100, it has a better metering and focusing system, Kevin Temperature white balance, on-camera adjustemt of saturation, larger LCD, GPS and Wireless functions, improved USB connectivity. Unlike D100 and D2X, it missed the TIFF file format. Compared to D2X it is a lot smaller and lightweight, but lower resolution, less frame coverage of the viewfinder, and a few more less noticeable lacks.

This digital camera targets more advanced photographers, like the ones between compacts and SLR’s. Therefore, starting from its robust silver design, it won’t fit your pocket, it has a large comfortable viewfinder, pop-up flash, offers histogram display on the LCD, and it is equipped with SLR-like buttons. The shutter speed goes up to 16 sec, the optical zoom goes to an impressive 12x, manual modes (aperture priority, shutter priority, manual) are available, exposure, metering are also adjustable, but no manual white balance. According to Kodak, every time you click the shutter, the Kodak Color Science Chip performs an instantaneous and advanced analysis of collected scene data to identify and adjust multiple factors that influence picture quality. To help you take better pictures, this camera comes with image stabilization. Some special features include Favourites feature, Share button, One Touch to Better Pictures feature. However, the image quality is better for Canon Powershot S3 in this range of cameras even if this one does not have image stabilization. Optionally you can purchase KODAK EASYSHARE Camera Dock Series 3, KODAK EASYSHARE Photo Printer 500 or KODAK EASYSHARE Printer Dock Plus Series 3.

This high resolution point-and-shot camera comes in 8 different colors of its fancy slim design, made of metal and plastic, with few buttons. No manual controls, no viewfinder: definitely a family camera. From all the scene modes, I’m glad it has a panorama assist, but then again: it won’t keep the original photos.
Battery consumption is about the average (200 shots). Shutter lag is as slow as 3 sec, and in low light it hardly focuses right. One thing I like is the blur warning and image stabilization. As for the image quality, it’s kind of noisy, with not very accurate white balance, purple fringing is well controlled, colors are highly saturated. If you are interested in making short movies with this camera, I can fortunately say that you can use the zoom while filming. Kodak’s PerfectTouch technology will adjust your image, making it ready for high quality printing, while EasyShare system makes it easy to tag photos for e-mailing and printing.
