It also has an electronic viewfinder – i would ask Kodak manufacturers why not optic? The body tends to look like a slr but the hand grip is not of rubber and it is smaller and lighter. Almost all the controls are on the right-hand side of the camera. As for the image quality, Kodak cameras, and this one is no exception, tend to have noticeable fringing and artifacts, plus some visible noise and softness; colors are slightly oversaturated. A good thing, however, is that shoot to shoot time is fast even with flash on. I can conclude that this camera has all the features anyone could wish for, and, you have 2 choices: either you want a cheap camera with all the features – this is the one (and I suggest using it at lower ISO only), or you have some more money and buy a camera with better image quality at higher ISO.

No manual controls, no viewfinder: definitely a family camera. From all the scene modes, I’m glad it has a panorama assist, but then again: it won’t keep the original photos.
Battery consumption is about the average (200 shots). Shutter lag is as slow as 3 sec, and in low light it hardly focuses right. One thing I like is the blur warning and image stabilization. As for the image quality, it’s kind of noisy, with not very accurate white balance, purple fringing is well controlled, colors are highly saturated. If you are interested in making short movies with this camera, I can fortunately say that you can use the zoom while filming. Kodak’s PerfectTouch technology will adjust your image, making it ready for high quality printing, while EasyShare system makes it easy to tag photos for e-mailing and printing.

I say clever because it features Kodak Perfect Touch technology, cropping, digital red-eye reduction, blurry picture alert and anti-blur mode, panorama stitch mode, High ISO scene mode, capture framing grid and undo-delete, plus that it has a viewfinder. Still: with this kind of design I expected more manual controls. The Kodak AF 3X Optical Aspheric Lens captures crisp details. Compared to other Kodak point-and-shot’s, this one deserves my recommendation. Note that it uses AA NI-MH rechargeable batteries and SD memory card that are easy to find anywhere in case you need replacements.

It comes with a mode dial on top, a joystick on the back and a few other intuitive buttons. You have quick access the photos that you’ve tagged as favourites and the Smart Scene Mode will attempt to automatically select the right scene mode. Many people report problems regarding the functionality of the flash. Another thing that might let you thing it’s not the right camera for you is the lack of image stabilisation (it does have Blur Warning), which results in blurry pictures in low light (also focuses hard in low light). Another fact is the acceptable lens distortion and artefacts on the Kodak’s C875 images. The noise-reduction, however, performs well, and white balance produces slightly warm color tones. Red eye removal is not a problem since the on-camera software handle it and, one last thing: PerfectTouch feature improves photo quality at the push of one button.

It is a fashionable point and shoot camera: comes in many colors (java black, java brown, pink bliss, red shimmer, cosmic blue, mystic purple, golden dream, white glaze, silver essence, slate gray) and optional fancy bag, skins, and wrist and neck straps. This aspect, plus the Favorite feature (save a picture as a Favorite), makes me say this is a fun camera to use.

As for the performance, it’s important that the Kodak V1003 comes with Digital Image Stabilization using anti-blur mode and KODAK PERFECT TOUCH Technology which, to say it in a funny way, “relive your memories in richer detail and clear up dark shadows to reveal more smiles”. Blurry picture alert, and digital red-eye reduction, as well as panorama stitch, also worth mention. It doesn’t have manual features, but a great variety of scene modes (22) for any kind of situation and a flexible movie mode compensate that partially. What’s new at this EasyShare V1003 is the high ISO mode up to ISO 1600 for bright pictures when shooting under low light conditions.
That was for the good, but now comes the bad: noise and artefacts are present in images more than on other cameras.

Its unique dual lens (proprietary KODAK RETINA Dual Lens technology) arrangement includes a surprisingly useful 23mm ultra wide angle lens. Special features include Image Stabilization mode, Burst photography mode, 180 degree Panorama stitching (3 shots), Optional histogram display, DPOF (Digital Print Order Format) compatibility, PictBridge support, USB connectivity. Automatic red-eye reduction, on-camera cropping, in-camera distortion correction to compensate for ultra-wide angle fish-eye effects (which can be turned on or off), picture blur alert (green indicates an acceptable sharpness level, while a red icon indicates that the image is too soft) and auto picture rotation also deserve a mention. You can also select any frame in a video, then save and print it as a “freeze frame” still picture.
Images are soft with vibrant, appealing colors and natural skin tones, but not very little visible noise at high ISO. Good exposure accuracy and good low light capability in landscape mode. Easyshare V570‘s video capabilities are also very good. All these (plus the fact that it does not have manual controls) mean that Kodak EasyShare V570 is a good choice for novices, as well as more experienced users looking for a capable travel digital camera.
It realy is a complete digital camera, therefore, one of my recomandations.
It is compatible with Photo Frame Dock 2, which provides one-touch picture transfer to a connected computer while keeping the cameras’ high-capacity lithium-ion battery charged and ready to go, and which can play video and photo slideshows on the camera high-resolution LCD screen.

Perfect Touch was able to restore the details of sections of the images that were almost lost in the shadows. It’s also non-destructive in that it creates a new image so that the original is not altered, which is useful if you decide you might be able to do a better job in an image editing program.
With an ergonomic shape, made of plastic not metal, it’s not slim and modern, but it has a viewfinder (optical, 84% accuracy): more utilitarian and less aesthetic. It is based on a Schneider-Kreuznach lens and CCD sensor. The camera includes a red-eye reduction mode, so red-eye should not be too much of a problem. A funny thing about this Kodak is the fact that even if it does have a manual mode, is has no aperture or shutter priority modes; also no manual focus is present and amazingly no custom white balance. It comes with: Kodak’s EasyShare software, USB 2.0 connection, DPOF and PictBridge but no A/V output. For this ability, you’ll need a camera dock, which acts as a battery charger and selectable NTSC/PAL video and audio output.

A few improvements from V550 are the better buttons which are easier to press, viewfinder was completely eliminated, and more battery efficiency.
For each picture there is a “blur warning“: Red – bad, yellow – OK, and green – good. Then, it scans eyes in the photographs you take, and automatically removes red-eye. However, in low light the camera hardly manages to focus.
