Available in silver, black and gold, (each colour is metallic), Panasonic Lumix DMC-F100 comes in a stylish design of the a sleek, slim elegant body. As for the size, it’s not the smallest camera out there, but it fits into your smallest pockets. It has a few small buttons and a small covered dial, all intuitive.
The Leica Lens on which it’s based can capture up to 12 MP and 3.6 optical zoom, meaning that the camera is having a strong position in the costumers list of desires. At the heart of the FX100‘s super-easy operation is Intelligent Image Stabilization (Optical Image Stabilizer combined with ISO Control), a Panasonic system offered in all new Lumix cameras.
Equipped with Venus Engine III processor, Panasonic FX100 renders images with minimal noise. This processor is also responsible for the High-Speed Burst shooting mode that lets you snap off a lightning-fast eight shots per second.
Another interesting thing about this camera is the fact that the built-in flash reaches as far as 16 m – an impressive range. The battery life is also above the expectations: more than 300 shots. By lowering the resolution, you can use digital zoom without reducing the image quality, “white set” option lets you manually set the white balance, images are quite sharp and vivid. Before you this camera is perfect, note that Unfortunately, it lacks any on-board redeye removal tool. Besides that, calendar and category view, enhanced date stamp, multi-photo delete are a few functions added in playback mode that make the use of this camera playful.

Using this camera is similar to using a film camera: the zoom and aperture rings on the available Leica lenses plus the mode dial and manual focus. Also, since there are no scene modes, i highly recommend that you only buy this camera if you are more than a newby hobbyist (advanced amateur to professional photographer).
An interesting fact is that Panasonic L1 a similar design to Olympus EVOLT E-330 but will offer MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) in addition to Olympus’ dust reduction feature. This results in a compatibility with the extensive line of Olympus’ quality Zuiko Digital Specific Lenses. Other features include Dust Reduction System, fast response time (under 1 sec. shutter lag when using viewfinder), the ability to save images in RAW format. There is a special option (on/off): if the AF does not lock, when you press the shutter button, the camera will not take the picture.
Since the white balance in auto mode might be tricky in indoor condition, lucky the camera has a manual mode that works fine. The Live View LCD displays the effect of white balance selection as well as exposure compensation applied or other image settings. The images are far from being noisy even at high ISO but becomes more prominent at slow shutter speeds. There is slight purple fringing.
It is powered with Mega Optical Image stabilizer and Noise Reduction. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50 comes in two flavours: all black body, or a very attractive silver and black body.
The DMC-FZ50 is equipped with a new Function Button which serves as a shortcut to quickly set frequently-used settings such as recording image size, light metering, AF area, White balance, and ISO sensitivity.
The 2-inch LCD flips out to 180 degrees, making it easier to view even when shooting from high or low angles.
It powers on and is ready for first shot in 1.4 seconds and shot to shot requires 1.25 sec. ISO 1,600 and 3,200 are practically unusable because of the big amount of noise.
Other facilities of this camera are: Autofocus Macro (close-up) setting allows focusing up to five centimeters, Three Continuous Shooting modes, plus Auto Exposure Bracketing mode.

After the notice about Nikon malfunctions last week, now comes the time for the Japanese company Panasonic to anounce CCD performance defects with the Lumix DMC-LC1. In the press release, Panasonic tells us that is offering repair service for domestic Japanese LC1 models, but has not released details about service for other areas.

Panasonic reported that pictures do not appear when photographing with select LC1 cameras, a phenomenon that the company attributes to the CCD image sensor. The Panasonic LC1, introduced in 2004, has a 2/3-inch CCD sensor.

This camera first impressed me with the Extra Optical Zoom function that provides additional magnification up to 18x when taking photos with 3-megapixel resolution. Second thing to make you choose this camera is the and Intelligent Image Stabilization. Sensitivity setting as high as ISO 1250 is quite impressive for the noise reduction and the shutter release time lag as short as 0.005 seconds, shutter interval 0.6 second are brilliant. Let’s see some interesting features: Date Stamp, a total of 18 scene modes, including the new Pet and Sunset modes. About the menu: you’re playing a joystick.
It’s not exactly a pocket camera since it’s kind of robust. New on the market, it accepts SDHC memory cards (the new SD memory cards with capacity over 2GB). As for movies, Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 records full-size movies in wide-aspect VGA (848×480) at 30fps, allowing you to view your recordings on a wide screen television.
