Sony Cybershot DSC-T100This ultra compact digital camera feels like… a toy made of plastic! More than that, the pocket camera can be purchased in colors as pink, red, green, grey, crème, brown and black.
The Sony DSC-T100 is powered by the Bionz processing engine, first used in Sony’s Alpha digital SLR camera system. Not only does this robust processing engine deliver the fast image processing speeds needed to produce color-rich, detailed pictures for true high-definition photo viewing, it also speeds up the cameras’ response times and extends battery life.
Red-eye correction and dynamic range optimization to adjust under- or over-exposed areas can be performed without having to make a lot of adjustments to the camera. Photos can be retouched and enlivened on the spot with up to four filter selections, such as the fish-eye filter for an amusing fishbowl effect.
With the Sony Cybershot DSC-T100 shooting in low light doesn’t have to result in blurry, grainy photos. Sony’s Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization counters camera shake and stabilize images so you can easily shoot with longer exposure times. Also, it can identify up to 8 faces in the camera’s LCD frame, and automatically adjust white balance and flash as well as focus and exposure for sharp, clear photos. Sony’s Clear raw noise reduction technology will help reduce the picture noise common to low-light exposures.

Sony Cybershot DSC H7The new models, DSC-H7 and DSC-H9, replace the existing H2 and H5 digital cameras and will be available in stores starting from April 2007. The H7 and H9 cameras debut Sony’s new advanced sports shooting mode. This mode combines high shutter speed shooting and intelligent continuous auto-focusing.
The cameras can quickly focus on fast-moving subjects by predicting where those subjects will be in the frame. This predictive technology also helps to reduce shutter lag, the time it takes for the camera to focus and shoot.

The H9 and H7 cameras incorporate Super Steady Shot optical image stabilization to minimize blur caused by camera shake, an important feature when shooting at slow shutter speeds at full zoom. Their high sensitivity, up to ISO3200, also helps to fight blur resulting from fast-moving subjects.

With Sony’s new face detection technology on both H7 and H9, it can easily identify up to eight faces in the camera’s LCD frame, and automatically adjust white balance and flash as well as focus and exposure for correctly exposed, sharp photos.
The H9 is also the only Cyber-shot model in this year’s line to feature NightShot technology. This feature allows you to take photographs in environments with virtually no light so you won’t miss the action, even at a late night game.

Equipped with Sony’s Dynamic Range Optimizer, the new cameras can analyse captured image data and instantly determine the best exposure and tonality of each picture before JPEG compression. Also, red-eye correction and photo retouching effects with filters are available functions of these new cameras.

Sony Cybershot DSC-N2This is an autofocus (19.7 inch focus range, and 2.4 inch in macro mode) compact digital camera with slim design and a copper-like metallic color, but, most of all, with a unique touchscreen interface and ultracompact body. But it’s more than just an autofocus camera because Sony’s also imbued the screen with a new ability: free-spot focusing. Simply tap the screen where you want the image to focus, and the camera will oblige.Cybershot N2 comes with Sony Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization and Red-eye Reduction. As for the lacks of this model, slow continuous shooting speeds and high chromatic aberration with slightly warm skin tones make the photo quality under the level of other cameras.

sony alpha a100 dslrIt’s a good-sized dSLR camera with a sturdy plastic shell over a metal frame. The camera is easy to hold, with a substantial right hand grip, and the important controls are within easy reach of your fingers. The A100 has quite a few buttons and dials, which can be intimidating to new users. Using a Sony Zoom DT 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 Lens, with Optical Image Stabilization, Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 focuses in Single-shot AF (Wide AF area, Spot AF area, Focus area selection), Direct Manual Focus, Continuous AF, Automatic AF and Manual focus mode.

As for the exposure modes, you got Auto, Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, Full Manual (with EV indicator), Exposure Compensation (+/-2.0 EV in 1/3 EV Steps), AE Lock, AE Bracketing (0.3 or 0.7 EV steps) and the possibility to make exposures as long as 4 hours. White balance control is also flexible: Auto, Daylight, Shade, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Flash (with custom color temperature adjustments), White balance bracketing. Bad thing about this digital camera is that no date & Time info included in image metadata.

The good thing, however, is the remote control and compatibility with Minolta accessories and dual mode dust reduction system: dust resistant coating over the sensor plus a dust “shake off” when powered on or off. Very good photo quality with a bit of noise at high ISO and fast shooting speed for this Sony.

sony-cybershot-dscf828The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-F828 is Sony’s entry into the 8 megapixel digital camera arena. But what makes this digital camera more noteworthy than the fact that it has 8 megapixels, is its fantastic Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* 7x optical zoom lens. Focal length (35mm equiv.) for this 8 megapixel camera is 28mm – 200mm, with Max. Aperture between F2.0 and F2.8. The big disadvantaje here is that sony does not support conversion lenses, even if the shape of it’s robust body might make you think it would.

Cybershot DSC-F828 is equipped with a dual memory slot , which means that beside supporting the Memory Stick and Memory Stick PRO memory cards also the CompactFlash format is supported. Cybershot F828 has not the best optics with unacceptable chromatic aberrations when shooting w/ wide angle. Also a bit noisy at higher ISO, but the good part: unmatched sharpness and colors, an arsenal of features (Standard and Real color modes, and adjustable saturation).

The fact that the camera has too many buttons makes it somewhat difficult to use. A lens cap is included to protect the front of the lens when you are not using the camera. A retaining strap is also included to tether the lens cap to the camera so you don’t lose the lens cap when you are not using it. Sony Cyber Shot DSC-F828 once again comes through for sophisticated snapshot photographers but falls short for the most advanced amateurs.

The focal range of the W100‘s lens (F2.8-5.2, 3X optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens) is 7.9 – 23.7 mm, which is equivalent to 38 – 114 mm.
This 8.1 Megapixel Camera is very effective at ISO 400 (reaches 1.000 lines/image length in the centre of the image and low noise). But ISO for this camera goes up to 1250. While it uses Memory Stick Duo cards, also has a 64Mb build-in memory. It uses the NP-BG1 lithium-ion rechargeable battery and, not very remarkably, you are able to get up to 360 shots before it runs out. Included with the camera is an external battery charger (4-5h for charge). Exposure time: 1/1000 to 30 seconds. Preparing for shot with the zoom lens will take 1.5 seconds and shooting 0.66 seconds. The built-in flash is a powerful one, with a working range of 0.2 – 6.0 m at wide-angle and 0.3 – 3.2 m at telephoto.
One bad thing about it is that there’s no custom white balance setting on the DSC-W100. Also, don’t expect a redeye reduction.
The important controls are easy to reach even with one hand but you better use two.
It’s design is the one Sony used us with: small flat pocket camera (ultra-compact), just a bit larger and heavier. This camera supports the USB 2.0 High Speed standard.
The MPEG Movie VX Fine mode takes VGA-sized video (that’s 640 x 480) at 30 frames/sec until the memory card is full, with sound.
Overall, i recommend this camera for the quality of clear image due to it’s ISO performances.
