Here continues the list of the Booth Tours:
Samsung PMA 2008 Booth Tour
Samsung are showcasing their 14 megapixel GX20 DSLR, successor to the GX10 and close sibling to the Pentax K20D (they’re basically the same camera). Note that in the UK the GX20 is some £200 cheaper than Pentax’s version. As with every other manufacturer at PMA 2008, Samsung also have a multitude of new compacts on show.
The Samsung GX20 wireless grip, which is being shown in early prototype form, slots into the bottom of the camera and provides Wi-Fi connectivity. The prototype doesn’t have room for batteries, but the final version may take batteries when it’s released around May.
Nikon PMA 2008 Booth Tour
Star of the show for Nikon is the entry-level D60 DSLR, 10 megapixel successor to the D40x. This diminutive camera will go head-to head with Canon’s EOS 450d and Sony’s A200 models. Nikon are also showing new lenses and a vast sea of multi-coloured Coolpix compacts.
Pentax PMA 2008 Booth Tour
The Pentax K20D and K200D DSLRs are on show at PMA - the 14 megapixel K20D puts Pentax right in the mix in the competitive mid-range DSLR market. Completing Pentax’s Spring line-up are some new lenses and 4 new compact cameras.
Sigma PMA 2008 Booth Tour
The long-awaited and long-delayed Sigma DP1 is back at another trade show! First unveiled at Photokina in September 2006, the DP1 is now slated for a March release, priced at $1000 rrp or $800 street. The sample that I tried was still a little rough around the edges, but it looks as if the Sigma DP1 will finally see the light of day. Also being displayed was a new 200-500mm zoom lens, costing a whopping £16,000!!!
Olympus PMA 2008 Booth Tour
With no new DSLRs, Olympus are busy pushing their extensive range of compact cameras - no fewer than 9 new models in total, all in a wide range of colours. Most interesting is the 20x zoom SP-570 UZ, which is currently the World’s biggest ultra-zoom camera.
Canon PMA 2008 Booth Tour
Canon have the same size stand as last year, but this time with fewer new products on display. The Digital Rebel XSi is the star for Canon, joined by two new pro lenses and a few compact digicams.
Sony PMA 2008 Booth Tour
Sony have unveiled an advanced prototype version of their 24 megapixel full-frame professional DSLR camera at the opening PMA press conference this morning. Due for release by the end of 2008. the as yet un-named camera will feature the new 24.8 CMOS sensor that was announced yesterday. Also on show on the Sony booth are the new entry-level A350 and A300 DSLRs. Other highlights include the Cyber-shot T300, a multitude of W-series compacts, digital photo frames and Handycams with 10 megapixel stills capabilities…
