The Kodak Z712 IS Digital Camera combines an impressive 12X optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization and 7.1 megapixels, plus face detection and manual controls – all useful features. It also has an electronic viewfinder – i would ask Kodak manufacturers why not optic? The body tends to look like a slr but the hand grip is not of rubber and it is smaller and lighter. Almost all the controls are on the right-hand side of the camera. As for the image quality, Kodak cameras, and this one is no exception, tend to have noticeable fringing and artifacts, plus some visible noise and softness; colors are slightly oversaturated. A good thing, however, is that shoot to shoot time is fast even with flash on. The design of this camera is very different than the rest of the cameras in it’s range. If you thought that a SLR-like ultra zoom digicam can not look fancy and stylish, you are wrong.
