Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z6 Digital Camera Review

The design of this camera is very different than the rest of the cameras in it’s range. If you thought that a SLR-like ultra zoom digicam can not look fancy and stylish, you are wrong. The round forms of the design do not interfere with the camera usability and hand grip. The tripod mount is positioned well in the gravity center of the camera, but the mount is made of plastic – not very solid. It starts up in around two seconds and focus speed is about 0.2 seconds long. Konica Minoltas Z6 features a very good anti-shake system that will help you to zoom at maximum power of 12x without a tripod and take good shots in low light also. Because of the focal length of the lens, the images may result in having barrel distortion at wide angle, and at the telephoto end it has softness and chromatic … Read more…

Olympus SP-500 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera Review

Olympus SP-500 is a 10X optical zoom camera, meaning it is an ultra zoom camera, way above the average zoom of other cameras; it provides 6 Megapixel CCD, large 2.5 inch LCD display, full manual controls (including white balance and focus), and plenty of scene modes plus shortcuts and custom button. The size of the camera is bigger than a compact but smaller than a SLR (one of the smaller ultra zooms and the lightest camera in its class) ; it has a pop-up flash and a lens cap on the plastic black body. The buttons are intuitively placed and the hand grip is perfect. The power-up and shooting times are about average. Noise reduction, panorama mode and panorama stitch software, histogram, build-in red eye removal and frame assist are the main features that would make me choose this ultra zoom digital camera. There is a possibility to shoot in … Read more…

Nikon Coolpix L6 Digital Camera Review

Unlike its predecessor L5, the Nikon L6 has 1MP less and also 2x less optical zoom. The battery life is impressive, but the shutter lag is slow (long time to charge flash). The design is smooth, quite flat to fit the pockets, lightweight and with intuitive buttons at the back. It does not have Shutter and Aperture Priority, but comes with plenty of scene modes including panoramic feature. The best shot selector mode captures up to 10 images and keeps the sharpest one. Therefore, the images are pleasant, with lots of details. Exposure compensation and manual white balance are a few controls that can allow some flexibility, but you can’t modify the ISO, and I find that annoying. It is a good camera for snap-shooters (due to the easy of use and image quality), but make sure you have steady hands because it does not come with image stabilization. Nikon Coolpix L6 … Read more…
