Canon PowerShot S3 IS Digital Camera Review

Canon PowerShot S3 IS was introduced at the Photo Marketing Association Trade Show in February 2006. The Canon S3 has some great features that make it the camera of the year: a 12x optical zoom lens to go with its 6.1-megapixel, 1/2.5-inch CCD and Digic II image processor, also, image stabilization. Just like on the S2, the S3’s lens cap seems to come off pretty easily. This model improves upon its predecessor with a new CCD that is designed to suppress noise and offers ISO sensitivities up to 800 (a fair amount of noise in landscape photos taken just after sunset and in close-ups taken during daylight in macro mode). This camera first impressed me with the Extra Optical Zoom function that provides additional magnification up to 18x when taking photos with 3-megapixel resolution. Second thing to make you choose this camera is the and Intelligent Image Stabilization. Sensitivity setting as high as ISO 1250 is quite impressive for the noise reduction and the shutter release time lag as short as 0.005 seconds, shutter interval 0.6 second are brilliant. Lets see some interesting features: Date Stamp, a total of 18 scene modes, including the new Pet and Sunset modes. About the menu: youre playing a joystick. Its not exactly a pocket camera since its kind of robust. New on the market, it accepts SDHC memory cards (the new SD memory cards with capacity over 2GB).
